Favorite LA Happy Hour Spots

Nothing hits the spot after a long day of work quite like happy hour. Chatting with friends, coworkers or my fave man over a round of cheap drinks and bites... what's not to love? The hardest part for me, though, is finding one that goes late and isn't a cheesy hookup spot. After years of searching, I've really honed in on a few spots that comprise my list of go-tos. The reason I like these? Great deals that go past 6pm, a relaxed yet polished atmosphere, and convenient locations (I work in Santa Monica and live in West Hollywood). Hope you like them and please, share yours with me too! I'm always on the lookout for new haunts.

5. The Misfit
Happy hour here consists of 50% off well drinks, cocktails and sangria; $5 drafts and wine; and a plentiful bar menu of nibbles. Hours are daily from noon to 7pm. The Misfit is conveniently located right off the Third Street Promenade and has a killer dining menu as well. Make sure to try their salted chocolate chip cookies too!

4. Copa d' Oro
Also in Santa Monica, this place has happy hour from 5:30 to 8pm and all night Monday! The prohibition-style bar offers some classics -- like my favorite, the Tom Collins -- for $5 a pop. It's a dangerous place if you don't know how to say no.

3. Kitchen 24
Not only do I love this place for its 24-hour delicious food offerings, but the happy hour is awesome! Sunday through Thursday, it goes from 3pm to 11pm (YES!) and Friday and Saturday, from 3pm to 8pm. Drinks are between $3 and $6 and appetizers are $5. Go!

2. The Next Door Lounge
A speakeasy-type establishment, the Next Door Lounge gives you a secret password to grant you access! What's even cooler is that happy hour goes until 8pm (in Hollywood) and wine is only $4! On Thursdays, you can get a wine and cheese flight for $30, too. Cushy couches and live piano make for a sexy post-work rendezvous spot.

1. Yatai Tapas Bar
My absolute all-time favorite place to go is Yatai. I take anyone and everyone who wants a piece of LA to this secret little spot. It's right on Sunset Blvd., in a hole-in-the-wall location that only suggests at how awesome this place is. It does get packed, so get ready to wait a bit and get cozy with other patrons. It's worth it, thought: $3 beer and $5 sake, wine and cocktails. Their HH menu has a heap of tapas and hand rolls for $3. And it goes until 9pm on weeknights. I'm just looking for an excuse to go again tonight!
